Our volunteers are at the core of everything we are able to accomplish at Track3. Many of our volunteers have been committed to supporting our athletes for over 30 years. We are truly thankful for the dedication and passion shown by each volunteer -  their contributions will forever be remembered.

Personal Tributes from Track3

Doug Keary, Co-founder of the Ontario Track3 Adaptive Sports Association (Formerly Ontario Track 3 Adaptive Ski Association For The Disabled)

 (1922 - 2021)

George Douglas Keary was a man of many talents, ambitions, and accomplishments. His zest for life and invigorating presence was infectious to all of those who had the opportunity to meet him. Every task he undertook, he did so passionately and wholeheartedly. He was a truly self-determined natural leader.

In 1972, Doug dedicated his free time to establish a ski program aimed to provide young amputees the chance to experience the exhilaration of being on the slopes and reap the physical benefits of alpine sports. He didn’t stop there, Doug expanded the Track3 program to include children and youth of various abilities including those with cerebral palsy. Doug’s dedication to the athletes never stopped, he remained active with Track3 until the age of 90 and only stopped due to a leg injury. Thanks to Doug’s determination, generosity, and spirit, Track3 is a symbol of inclusion for persons of all abilities in the alpine sports sphere. He is truly a remarkable individual who made everyone feel encouraged, supported, and cheerful.

Henk Engels, Executive Director of Ontario Track3 Adaptive Sports Association

 (1941 - 2014)

Henk was a stalwart man, with a heart of gold and the power of a lion. Henk served as a Bus Captain, Ski Instructor, Team Leader, Program Director, Board Member, President, and finally the Executive Director. The children and youth were always number one! Henk impressed skiers and operators with his passion and his commitment that became unsurpassed as a fundraiser, which is so critically important to the survival and success of Track3.  This remarkable man stayed devoted to ‘’changing lives for 40 years!’’ In so many ways, he was truly a miracle-worker!
